Libraries have
been witnessing transition in their set ups. Shifting from
print to electronic resources, from physical to web access
and virtual storage, and from traditional to virtual library
models. The emerging paradigm is indeed offering
user-friendly means for access to virtual resources.
Information serves as the lifeblood of the academic
community. At all times the over riding objective of Library
activity remains steadfast: quality service to the
information seeker. The basic philosophy of WCAS Library is
based on the theory of Late Dr S R Ranganathan’s Five
Fundamental Laws of Library and Information Science:

Books are for use.

Every reader his/her book.
3.
Every book his/her reader.
4.
Save the time of the reader.
5.
The library is a growing organism.
Vision:
Our vision is to be recognized as the center of intellectual
and academic life at Waljat Colleges of Applied Sciences. We
aspire to be known throughout the region and nation as a
responsive, effective, innovative library that is committed
to quality.
Mission:
Library of WCAS exists to support the teaching, research and
extension activities of the College by providing to
students, faculty and staff, information and documentary
resources and services, relevant to their needs. Being an
integral part of the WCAS, the Library is committed to play
a proactive role in achieving the mission of WCAS "To
promote high international quality education in Oman that
prepares students for modern high quality jobs."
Aim:
The main aim of the
library is to fulfill its objectives to develop and maintain
a balanced and comprehensive collection of materials to
support the teaching and learning program and future
research.
It
also endeavors to make its resources available and useful to
serve the needs of the staff and students of the College.
Library also intends to create an environment that supports
delivery of superior service to its users and to carry out
the mission of the WCAS. Library also aims to assist
students in meeting the educational objectives established
during the formal course of the study. Our main purpose is
to inform, enrich and empower users through the provision of
information and E-resources. The library is committed to
play a proactive role in achieving the mission of WCAS “To
promote high international quality education in Oman that
prepares students for modern high quality jobs”. Keeping in
view, the vision and mission of WCAS, the library providing

WCAS Library is a member of DELNET where in more than 1500
library’s data can be accessed
OPACULIBNET:
For the
purpose of resource sharing, a group of libraries named Oman
Private Colleges and Universities Library Network (OPACULIBNET)
has been created last year. Resource sharing activities are
being done within this group.

Borrowing period:
Students can borrow maximum 15 books. A set of Text Books
are

issued to students at the
beginning of the semester while other books are issued for a
period of 15 days. Renewals of documents are subject to the
demands for the book. Reservations of documents are also
possible. Failure to return the documents in the prescribed
time will result in a late fee of Baizes 200/- per day.
Location:
Located at the basement of the new building with the state
of the art facilities.
Rules & Regulations:
·
Only bonafide members are allowed inside the
library.
·
Users are requested to keep their bags at the
property counter.
·
Do not keep your valuable items in the
property counter.
·
Users are requested to observe silence in the
library and keep their mobile phones switched off.
·
Library card is not transferable.
·
In case of loss / damage of library membership
card, duplicate card will be issued on payment of ro.
2/-.
·
In case of loss and damage of any book, full
price will be charged from the students.
·
Ro 0.200 per day will be charged if book
returns late.
·
Students can borrow upto 05 books for whole
semester and another 5 books for a period of 15 days against
library membership card.
·
Personal books are not allowed inside the
library.
·
Members are requested to get the book /
material checked at the exit gate.
·
Students are requested to return their library
membership card / i.card at the time of cleareance
certificate.
·
Students are expected to maintain the
discipline in the library.
·
Students are requested to please observe
silence in the library.
