PROGRAMS - FULL TIME

The Following programs are available at WCAS.

The following are the details for different academic programs being offered at Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) w.e.f. Monsoon 2011 Session. 

Bachelor of Engineering ( BE):  

WCAS is conducting Bachelor of Engineering Program in three branches, namely, Biotechnology (BT), Computer Science (CS) and Electronics & Communication Engineering (ECE).

Duration of Program: Four Years (Eight Semesters)

Eligibility Criteria for Admission: Students having minimum 50% marks in aggregate at the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent examination with English, Physics, and Mathematics and other two subjects (Chemistry/ Biology/ Computer Science/ Information Practice) are eligible to apply for admission. Firm admission to the program will be granted on the basis of the performance in the entrance test conducted by WCAS in Muscat. Candidates with valid SAT/ CBSE-AIEEE or equivalent engineering entrance test scores may be exempted from the entrance test.

NOTE: Senior Secondary School or equivalent certificate issued from Board/University/Institution located outside Sultanate of Oman has to be equated by the candidate from the Ministry of Education, Sultanate of Oman before submitting it to the college. 

Foundation Program in BE: Students who do not qualify in the entrance test for direct admission to the degree program will be given an option (subject to their performance in the entrance test) to undergo one year foundation program. They will be taught English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.  On successful completion of the foundation level program the candidate can join the Main Program.

Maximum Duration of study: A student is allowed to pursue the BE degree program for a maximum duration of SEVEN years (fourteen semesters), excluding the foundation year program provided he/she fulfills other academic regulations during that period.

Exit Facility: A student desirous of leaving ECE or CS program after completion of one year, two year or three years of the degree programs will be awarded Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in the respective program.

Bachelor of Computer Application (BCA):

Duration of Program: Four Years (Eight Semesters) 

The student can avail Fast Track option and complete the course in THREE years. The student will be awarded Fast Track based upon his/her performance in the First Semester Examinations. 

Eligibility Criteria for Admission: Students having minimum 50% marks in aggregate at the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent examination with English, Mathematics/Computer Science/ Information Practice are eligible to apply for admission. Firm admission to the program will be granted on the basis of the performance in the entrance examination conducted by WCAS in Muscat.

Bachelor of Business Administration ( BBA): 

Duration of Program: Four Years (Eight Semesters)

They will be taught English, Mathematics, Basics of Accounting, Basics of Statistics and Basics of Management. On successful completion of the foundation level program the candidate can join the Main Program. 

Maximum Duration of Study: A student is allowed to pursue the BBA degree program for a maximum duration of SEVEN years (fourteen semesters), excluding the foundation year program provided he/she fulfills other academic regulations during that period. 

Exit Facility: A student desirous of leaving    the program after completion of one year, two year or three years of the degree programs will be awarded Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Business Administration. 

Master of Business Administration (MBA):  

Duration of Program: 2 Years (4 Semesters) 

Eligibility Criteria for Admission: Students having minimum 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent CGPA or rated as GOOD grade as per university norms at the Bachelor Degree level are eligible to apply. The firm admission will be granted on the performance in the entrance test and/or viva-voice examination conducted by WCAS. Candidates having valid GMAT/CAT/MAT or equivalent examination score may be exempted from the entrance test. 

NOTE:  The Original Bachelor Degree and Transcript has to be submitted to the college for getting approval from the Ministry of Higher Education. 

Bachelor Degrees issued from Universities/Institutions located outside Sultanate of Oman has to be equated by the candidate from the Ministry of Higher Education, Sultanate of Oman before submitting to the college. 

Maximum Duration of Study:  A student is allowed to pursue MBA degree program for a maximum duration of THREE years (six semesters) provided he/she fulfills other academic regulations during that period.
