  EXAMINATION & GRADING

Each theory type of subject will be evaluated for a maximum of 100 marks per unit through progressive assessment through cycle test/attendance/Assignment(50 % marks) and an end-semester examination of two hours duration(50 % marks).  For MBA & EMBA, the progressive assessment  30% and end-semester examination 70%.

Each sessional type of subject will be evaluated for a maximum of 100 marks per unit through progressive assessment (60% marks) based on day to day performance and end semester examination (40% marks) viva-voce/written test.

A student will be declared failed (F or D grade as per his/her overall semester performance) in a subject if he/she does not appear, due to any reason.

Provision of retest in progressive assessment and end semester examination is not available. However for students getting D / F grades provision for appearing in Summer Semester examination exists.

Summer semester examination shall be held in the similar manner, as stated above. However, the marks for attendance will be credited as obtained by the student in the subject in previous / regular semester.

Grading System

Based on the examination performance, the student in each subject shall be relatively graded as under:

Note: To earn an academic credit in a subject, a student must get a grading of 'C' or above.

Graduation Requirements

For BE degrees a student must earn 66 units, for BCA (Hons.) 56 units, for BCA 42 units, for BBA 42 units, for BBA & IT / BBA & Accountancy / BBA & Finance / BBA & Banking / BBA & Human Resource Development / BBA & Commerce 56 units; with grade C and above in each course.

Academic Probation and progression

BE: If a student obtains a grade point average of less than 4.5 in a semester examination, then he/she shall be placed under probation and will be given less than normal load in the next semester as per academic regulations. The academic loading of the student on probation shall, however, be reduced to 5.5 to 6.5 units. If a student is placed on probation in first or second semester examination and does not get a GPA equal to or greater than 5.0 in the next semester examination, the student shall be DROPPED from the program.

If a student fails in a course he / she may be allowed to register for that course in subsequent semester or summer program, provided that course is offered there in. A student is allowed to register in course in summer program, only if he / she had registered for the course earlier in a semester and obtained D or F grade there in. The maximum loading in a summer semester shall not exceed (4) four units.

Students who have been duly registered and exposed to all 66 units but have not completed one or more of them after 8th semester they may be permitted to appear at special examination in the courses where they got D or F grades provided he / she registers for a maximum of 8 units in the special semester examination which may be arranged after two weeks of the declaration of result of the 66 units. The special examination will be of 100 marks for theory course and 50 marks for laboratory. The student will be entitled to get only C grade in special examination. In case the student again fails in special semester examination, he will have to register for it in regular semester or may appear in next special examination / summer program.

At the time of registration to III semester a student must not have more than 3 units backlogs from first two semesters. If this is not fulfilled by any student then he / she will not be allowed to register for III semester until he / she cleared the said backlog and / or reduced the arrears to 3 units or less excluding NCC/NSS/PT & Games/Creative arts for BE students. Similarly, at the time of registration V semester, students having more than five units of back log will not be allowed to register in the V semester until they have cleared the said backlog and or/reduced the arrears to 5 units or less excluding NCC/NSS/PT & Games / Creative arts for BE students.

Award of division

1st class with distinction = CGPA of 7.00 and above
1st class = CGPA above 5.40 to 6.99
2nd class = CGPA 5.00 to 5.39

Academic loading of students

a) Minimum 5.5 and Maximum 8.5 units for BE students not under probation or undergoing summer semester.
b) A final year student, having maximum two backlogs, can take additional load of 1 unit each (not exceeding 9 units in all) in the VII & VIII semester.

Computer Application and Business Administration: If a student obtains a grade point average of less than 4.5 in a semester examination, then he/she shall be placed under probation and will be given less than normal load in the next semester as per academic regulations. The academic loading of the student on probation shall, however, be reduced to 5 to 6 units. If a student is placed on probation in first semester examination and does not get a GPA equal to or greater than 5.0 in the next semester examination, the student shall be DROPPED from the program. If a dropped student wants to continue in the college he will have to restart from the first semester.

If a student fails in a course he / she may be allowed to register for that course in subsequent semester or summer program, provided that course is offered there in. A student is allowed to register in course in summer program, only if he / she had registered for the course earlier in a semester and obtained D or F grade there in. The maximum loading in a summer semester shall not exceed 4 (four) units.

Students who have been duly registered and exposed to all 42 / 56 units but have not completed one or more of them after 6th / 8th semester they may be permitted to appear at special examination in the courses where they got D or F grades provided he / she registers for a maximum of 7 units in the special semester examination which may be arranged after two weeks of the declaration of result of the 42 / 56 units. The special examination will be of 100 marks for theory course and 50 / 100 marks for laboratory depending upon half / full unit. The student will be entitled to get only C grade in special examination. In case the student again fails in special semester examination, he will have to register for it in regular semester or may appear in next special exam or summer exam.

At the time of registration to III semester a student must not have more than 3 units back logs after first two semesters. If this is not fulfilled by any student then he / she will not be allowed to register for III semester until he/she cleared the backlog and/or reduced the arrears to 3 units or less. Similarly, at the time of registration V semester, students having more than five units of back log will not be allowed to register in the V semester until they have cleared the said backlog and/or reduced the arrears to 5 units or less.
