THE FOUNDER'S MESSAGE

The wise vision of His Majesty, Sultan Qaboos bin Said, that there is an inextricable link between education and prosperity, inspired the conceptualization of the Waljat Colleges of Applied Sciences (WCAS) for providing a soild base to the advanced technical skills and specialization in the higher education system in the Sultanate. May God bless & protect him and his esteemed government.

Motivated by the conviction that WCAS will be one of the strong pillars of higher education that will train the youth in the specialized branches of Engineering, Information Technology and Business Administration and enlighten them for effectively carrying out their duties to contribute in nation building and its all round properity.

To meet the challenges of turning the dreams in to a reality, the management has been directed to work hard with all out efforts to make WCAS a distinguished educational institution.

Its foremost objective is to ensure world class academic programs focusing on technical areas with scientific and engineering bent and with high job potential. The teaching methodology and content should aim at deepening the students' understanding of scientific principles and develop inquisitiveness in them to carry out research on the scientific theories and principles.

WCAS endeavors to get benefited by the experience of leading international aademia in its pursuit for developing and maintaining high standards of education and research, which the world is witnessing, especially in the areas of information technology, biotechnology and management sciences.

WCAS has an academic collaboration with the Birla Institute of Technology (BIT), a premier technological university in India, known world over for its academic curriculum and standard of education. Through BIT, WCAS has linkages with Purdue University, USA; University of Brunswick, Canada; University of Leeds, UK; and City & Guilds of London Institute, UK. I am sure that these linkages will further enrich the knowledge imparted to the students of WCAS through exchange of ideas, students and faculty amongst the universities.

Finally, I would like to thank all the officials in the management committee of the WCAS for their continued efforts in making the college a higher center of learning. I would also like to advise the students to work hard, diligently and benefit from the facilities offered by the college and come out with knowledge and wisdom to serve out great nation.

Lastly, I would like to express my thanks to the Ministry of Higher Education for their sincere efforts in the cause of higher education in the Sultanate and I wish them all success.

May Almighty guide us to serve our nation and our beloved Sultan. May god bless him and protect him.
