Greetings from Waljat College of Applied Sciences

It is my pleasure and honor to welcome you to our web site.

Waljat College of Applied Sciences (WCAS) was established in 2001 by noted industrialist and philanthropist, H.E. Dr. Omar Al Zawawi, with a vision to impart high quality professional education in the Sultanate of Oman, in academic partnership with Birla Institute of Techology (BIT), Mesra, Ranchi, one of the top Deemed Universities in India.

WCAS is recognized as a unique institution imparting quality education and training in Engineering, Computer Applications and Business Administration in Oman with a distinct mission to develop knowledgeable and socially responsible citizens with competence, skills and motivation that are capable to take up responsible positions in different sectors of the economy. Our student community comes from different cultural and social backgrounds and is given a global orientation during the course of their study with a strong emphasis on character and attitude building.

Education at WCAS is with a purpose to encourage innovation, creativity and inquisitiveness among students and to prepare them to shoulder responsibilities in the ever changing professional domains and rapidly transforming world order. At present, we have established the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering, Department of Computer Science & Engineering, Department of Biotechnology, Department of Electrical Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering, Department of Mathematics, Department of Business Administration and Department of English. The college has developed well equipped class rooms and laboratories, a modern library and advanced e-learning resources besides excellent facilities for co-curricular activities.

The Bachelor Degree Program in Engineering, Computer Applications and Business Administration and MBA Program offered at WCAS follow the same course content, academic requirements and teaching learning methodology as that offered at the parent university - BIT and the curriculum is reviewed and upgraded periodically. Undergraduate academic programs in Computer Applications and Business Administration besides an executive MBA program are also offered in part-time mode to encourage the employed persons to improve their educational qualification. Some new academic programs in the relevant and emerging areas of Science and Technology are also to be offered in near future. 

The development of soft skills, industrial and corporate training/visits, participation in a variety of extra-curricular activities and exposure to lectures of visiting experts provide all round grooming to the students at WCAS that helps them to get better career placements at reputed establishments in Oman and abroad. The excellent performance of our alumni in their chosen career is a testimony to the quality of education and training received by them.

Our students have the privilege and possibility of interacting with the global alumni presence of the parent University under its mentorship program and can also have the benefit of participation in dual degree and research program through international collaborations with prestigious universities and reputed institutions.

We are blessed to have an extremely talented and dedicated group of faculty, officers and staff who are committed to their respective responsibilities and mission of the College.
